Procedure Description:
Carpal Tunnel Release

What To Expect:
Surgery is done on an outpatient basis and usually takes about 15 minutes. Following surgery,it will take a few weeks for the strength to build up in your hand. Grabbing and holding objects may be difficult during the first weeks after surgery. Pain and numbness often resolves within days after surgery. Complete recovery can take several weeks to several months, depending on the severity of damage to the nerve.

Preprocedure:
Nothing by mouth after midnight. Please arrive in the Surgical Diagnostic Center at least 60 minutes before the scheduled procedure.

Postprocedure:
After surgery, the wrist is immobilized in a heavy bandage for about one week. Patients should not drive for about a week. Stitches can be removed within 7-10 days. Lifting is restricted to 5lbs for about 4 weeks.
